Chevy Cruze Transmission Fluid Capacity

The Chevy Cruze is a compact car that has been in production since 2008. It is available in sedan, hatchback, and wagon body styles. The Cruze is powered by a variety of engines, including a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 1.8-liter four-cylinder. All Cruze models are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Transmission Fluid Capacity

The transmission fluid capacity of the Chevy Cruze varies depending on the model year and engine type. Here is a table that lists the transmission fluid capacity for each Cruze model:

Checking the Transmission Fluid

It is important to check the transmission fluid level regularly to ensure that it is at the proper level. Low transmission fluid can cause the transmission to overheat and fail. To check the transmission fluid level, follow these steps:

  1. Park the Cruze on a level surface.
  2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
  3. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. The dipstick is usually located near the front of the engine, on the driver’s side.
  4. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.
  5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission and push it all the way in.
  6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level.

The transmission fluid level should be between the “Full” and “Add” marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add more fluid. Use only the type of transmission fluid that is specified in your Cruze’s owner’s manual.

Changing the Transmission Fluid

The transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, or as specified in your Cruze’s owner’s manual. To change the transmission fluid, follow these steps:

  1. Park the Cruze on a level surface.
  2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
  3. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid drain plug. The drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the transmission.
  4. Place a drain pan underneath the drain plug.
  5. Loosen the drain plug and allow all of the fluid to drain out.
  6. Once all of the fluid has drained out, tighten the drain plug.
  7. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. The fill plug is usually located on the side of the transmission.
  8. Add new transmission fluid to the transmission until the fluid level reaches the “Full” mark on the dipstick.
  9. Tighten the fill plug.

That’s it! You have now changed the transmission fluid in your Chevy Cruze.
